Edit order
Use Edit order to change the quantities, prices, shipping, taxes and customer details on an order before you print or send its invoice. Say the customer took one unit less, or you agreed a lower price by phone: fix it here and the PDF shows the agreed numbers.
Your edits stay inside Avada. Nothing is written back to your Shopify order, your customer records or your inventory. The edited details show up on every document the app generates for that order, including the POS print, the customer's download link and emails that attach the PDF.

How to use
Step 1: Open the order and click Edit
Go to App > Orders and click the order number. Click Edit at the top of the order page.
The Edit order screen opens with a banner reminding you: "These changes apply to the printed invoice only. The original order in Shopify stays unchanged."
Edit used to open the Shopify order editor. If you still want to change the real Shopify order, open More actions > Edit Shopify order and click Continue to Shopify. This option is hidden on closed orders.
Step 2: Adjust the products
In the Line items card, for each product you can:
- Change the quantity. The minimum is 1, and only whole numbers are kept.
- Remove it with the ✕ button. If you remove every product, the invoice shows only shipping and tax.
- Change the price or add a discount. Click the price to open the popover:
- Price: the new unit price.
- Custom discount: choose Amount or Percentage, enter the value (an amount is per unit), and add a Reason for discount if you want it on record.
- Click Done. To take the discount off again, open the popover and click Remove.
A discounted line shows the original price struck through, and hovering it shows the reason and the amount. Products that were refunded or returned are not listed.
Step 3: Adjust subtotal, shipping and taxes
In the Payment card:
- Click Subtotal to open Edit subtotal and enter a new value.
- Click Add shipping fee (or Edit shipping fees when the order already has some). Each fee has a Title and a Cost. Add as many as you need, edit or remove any of them, then click Done. Cancel throws away what you changed in the list.
- Click Taxes to open Edit taxes and set the Tax name and the amount.
Discounts that came from Shopify are shown but cannot be edited here. No amount can go below 0. The Total updates as you type.
Step 4: Adjust the early payment benefit (B2B)
On B2B orders that already carry an early payment benefit, an Early payment benefit card appears:
- Payment terms opens Select payment terms. Search, pick a term ("Due in 30 days" and so on) and click Select. A term already used by another rule is locked with the badge "Already in another rule".
- Benefit opens Edit benefit: choose Percentage (up to 100) or Fixed amount, enter the Value, and set Pay within in days, counted from the invoice date.
The benefit is recalculated from the edited subtotal. The new due date is also the one used in payment reminder emails.
Step 5: Review and click Update order
The Summary card on the right lists every change compared with the original Shopify order, as "from → to" or "Removed", followed by the Updated total. When nothing has changed it says "No changes have been made" and Update order stays disabled.
Click Update order. You see "Order updated", and the order now carries an Edited badge next to its name. Click Back to order to return to the order page.
Step 6: Edit the customer, addresses, notes and tags
These edits are made on the order page itself, not on the Edit order screen.
Contact information and addresses. Click the … button on the Customer card and choose Edit contact information, Edit shipping address or Edit billing address. Change what you need and click Save.
- Country/region and State are dropdowns. The form follows the address format of the country you pick: the United Kingdom asks for a Postcode and has no state field, Ireland says County, Japan puts the postal code above the city. Changing the country clears the state, so pick the country first.
- Address, City, State, ZIP and Country/region are required where the selected country uses them. Names, company and phone can be left blank.
Change the customer. Open the … menu and choose Remove customer, then confirm. This detaches the customer from this order only. The customer stays in your store. Use the Search customers box that appears to pick another one. It is attached for this order only, and no customer record is created in Shopify.
Notes, PO number and tags. Click the pencil icon on the Notes or Tags card.
- Notes: free text. When empty, the card shows "No notes from customer".
- PO number: on B2B orders, click the pencil next to PO number in the Notes card.
- Tags: separate tags with commas. Tags that differ only in capitalisation (
VIPandvip) count as the same tag, as in Shopify.
Undo everything: Reset data
Once an order has been edited, a Reset data action appears on the order page. It discards every edit on that order (products, payment, customer, addresses, notes and tags) and restores the original Shopify information.
Reset works on the whole order, not on single fields. It cannot be undone, so Avada asks you to confirm first. Reset data is available on every plan, so you can still clear your edits after a downgrade.
Plan availability
The Edit order screen and the … menu on the Customer card are part of the Ultimate plan.
On lower plans the Edit button shows a lock icon and takes you to the plans page, and the Customer card menu items are greyed out with an Ultimate badge. Notes, tags and Reset data stay available on every plan.
Tips
- Edit the order before you print or send. Documents already printed or emailed keep the old details, so reprint or resend after saving.
- Saving an edit does not email the customer. Send the document again when they need the corrected version.
- Since edits never reach Shopify, the Shopify admin and the Avada document can show different totals for the same order. Use Reset data when you want them to match again, or Edit Shopify order when the real order must change.
- Percentage discounts you add here print on the PDF as the money amount they work out to.
- Notes and tags appear on the PDF only when the template has those fields enabled. See Create & customize templates.
- For printing, downloading and the orders list itself, see Orders management.
